Last March 2022, we presented our first export batch of ORIGIN R-PET preforms made with 100% recycled material, whose final destination was Colombia. The event was held at the facilities of Enkador S.A. and was attended by the Minister of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, Gustavo Manrique Miranda, and the Vice Minister of Production and Industries, Carla Muirragui Palacios.
“For us it is important to align ourselves with the Ecological Transition promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition of Ecuador, promoting the circular economy, environmental sustainability and labor inclusion”, said Javier Díaz Crespo, representative of Enkador S.A.
We are the first Ecuadorian brand that covers the entire concept of inclusive circular economy in the country. We are in charge of promoting participatory and sustainable industrialization, by incorporating grassroots recyclers into our value chain, with the intention of formalizing and dignifying their trade, obtaining as a consequence an increase in their productivity and income.
Currently, we work with more than 100 waste managers from Quito and other parts of the country in the process of collecting, storaging and supplying PET as raw material. We have an approximate storage capacity of one thousand tons of PET per month, which is being gradually increased.
“Although we are a small country, we can do something big, we need more companies like Enkador that are committed to job creation, less use of materials from nature and income generators for the country,” said Minister Manrique.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that this initiative, in addition to caring for the environment, generates employment for more than 5,600 grassroots recyclers and makes it possible for us to recycle between 200 and 300 million post-consumer PET bottles per year.
